British Library Sounds holds 3.5 million unique sound recordings and associated documentation which come from all over the world and cover the entire range of recorded sound: music, drama and literature, oral history, wildlife and environmental sounds.

The Archival Sound Recordings (ASR) project ran from 2004 to 2009 and was funded by the JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) under its Digitisation Programme. British Library Sounds is the new name for Archival Sound Recordings.
