Based in the Conference Centre of the University of Warwick, near Coventry, in the Heart of England, this residential weekend is a much anticipated return.
This full weekend programme of varied sessions has been planned to educate and entertain you. The company of your friends and colleagues is sure to be stimulating amongst the comfortable facilities.

SESSION PROGRAMME (the session order and final content is to be confirmed)
° Audio Interconnections and Fault Finding
Hugh Robjohns (Audio Consultant and Technical Editor of Sound on Sound magazine) will cover the basics of analogue audio connectivity and how to identify and fix common faults. Essential learning for all new audio engineers, and a great refresher for the more seasoned.
° Audio over IP
A subject every sound engineer needs to know about. Richard Merrick (Broadcast Audio Manager) and Daniel Solomon (IT Systems Manager, TTS&L) will be busy demonstrating how to implement AoIP in the real world, building robust systems and passing on tips and tricks to keep your audio flowing reliably.
° Latency & Lip Sync
Sound Supervisors Andy James and Pete Bridges will investigate the increasingly common problem of lip-sync in broadcast systems. They'll look at the causes, how to measure it, and how to fix it.
° Immersive Audio for Live Events
Aaron Holloway-Nahum, Head of Soundscape at Southby Productions, takes us
through the process of designing and implementing immersive audio
experiences ranging from the concert hall to theatre stage to theme park. (This in an update on this session).
° Location to Post
What do post want from location audio these days and what exactly can they fix? Kate Davis (Dubbing Mixer/Re-recording Mixer) will explain all.
° One Take Wonders
Kiff McManus (Production Sound Mixer on "Boiling Point") and Simon Bishop ("Lost in London") describe the practical and technical difficulties that they had to overcome with these successful feature films.
° Psychoacoustics
Dr Russell Mason (Senior Lecturer on the Tonmeister Course at University of Surrey) will explain the science of sound perception and delve into spatial audio.
° The Dark Arts of RF
Marcus Blight (Sennheiser) will take us through the theory of RF and Jonathan Edwards (Terry Tew Sound & Light) will look at some of the practical aspects, including spectrum management and mixing analogue and digital systems.
If you are self-employed the costs for attendance (including travel) can be set as a CPD business expense against your end of year tax bill.
If you are an employee we feel sure that your employer will appreciate the benefit to the company knowledge base of allowing you to attend. The costs can, likewise, be set against any company training budget.
Over the weekend other engaging and interesting 'side-attractions' are being planned in collaboration with various manufacturers, suppliers and facilities. Companies in attendance will be: Calrec, CEDAR (Saturday), Everything Audio, emerging, Raycom, Rycote. There will also be a Pro-Tools demo room with the facility to work on your problem audio.
Should you wish to be accompanied by a partner, to share your accomodation, there will be a modest half-board upgrade charge to cover breakfast and dinner, etc. This charge will need to be paid directly to the UoW at check-in. Advance notice is required and so please contact the organisers if you want to take advantage of this offer. There is plenty for a partner to do and visit in the local area, whilst you are fully engaged during the day.
