Aaron Holloway Nahum, Head of Soundscape at Southby Productions will demonstrate the pioneering d&b Soundscape system at  their Soundscape Studios in Hackney, London

d&b Soundscape is the world’s most sophisticated sound system. Built on over 40 years of pioneering experience, it allows you to immerse audiences deeper into your vision than ever before.

Southby’s Soundscape Studios are based in Hackney, London and are the highest resolution d&b Soundscape facility in the world. 

Our d&b Soundscape demonstration lasts around 50 minutes, with time for Q&A after the session and the opportunity for participants to experiment with soundscapes across creative genres.

We start with some background information on Southby followed by a deep-dive introduction to immersive audio. We use sounds from nature to show how we use our ears to localise sounds in the natural world, and then show how this sort of thing works (or doesn’t!) with a sound system. This quickly scales up to full-blown demonstrations of Soundscape from the classical world right through to drum and bass and across a multitude of musical genres and use cases.

Towards the end, we demonstrate the power of Soundscapes room emulation technology and (in particular) how it can be used as a virtual acoustic shell for immersive performances.
